Metal Gear Solid Delta: the 11 missable trophies, and the exact moment each one closes

Eleven Delta trophies can be lost forever on a single playthrough, and most of them close during one conversation or one boss. Named, ordered, and marked with the point after which each is gone.

Most of Metal Gear Solid Delta forgives you. Eleven trophies do not.

Each of these depends on doing one specific thing at one specific moment, and once the story moves past that moment the trophy is gone from that save. There is no chapter select and no way back. We filmed all eleven as separate guides, and this page puts them in the order you meet them so you can see what is coming rather than what you lost.

Why these eleven and nothing else

Delta hides most of its trophies behind the collectibles and the difficulty runs, and those are patient. You can come back for a frog. You cannot come back for a conversation.

The eleven below all share the same shape: a window that opens, then shuts. Three sorts of window exist in this game:

  1. A boss you can only kill once. Anything about how a boss dies has to be done on the run where it dies.
  2. A conversation or a radio call. Delta's best jokes are in optional dialogue that plays once, at a moment the story then leaves behind.
  3. A state you have to be in. Poisoned, injured, asleep. If the game heals you before you use it, the moment has passed.

The eleven, in the order you meet them

Trophy The window Sort
Beekeeper The hive in the early jungle State
Mud Scientist Before the story leaves the swamp State
Taste the poison! While a specific food is still available State
Friendly Fire During a fight with an escort present Boss
A Good Man Is Hard To Find A conversation with one character Talk
Just Because A conversation, and it is easy to walk past Talk
You Snooze, You Lose A boss who has to be handled a particular way Boss
Tell Me Where the Bomb Is An interrogation you can skip entirely Talk
Ocelot Always Gets His Man Ocelot, on the encounter where it applies Boss
Believe It Or Not A one-off sequence Talk
Time Paradox Late, and the most famous of the set Boss

Each has its own guide with the trigger shown rather than described, because the difference between getting these and missing them is usually a few seconds and a specific position.

The three that catch the most people

Time Paradox is the one everybody knows about and still misses, because knowing the joke and knowing when the game will accept it are different things. It has a precise window and the story closes it.

Just Because and A Good Man Is Hard To Find are both conversations. The game gives you no prompt, no marker and no second chance, and both sit at moments where a player who is making progress will simply keep going.

Beekeeper is early enough that most people meet it before they have decided to go for the full set, which is exactly why it is missed. By the time you decide to care, the hive is behind you.

How to actually get all eleven

Do a dedicated trophy run. This is the honest answer. Playing normally and picking these up as they arrive works for maybe seven of the eleven, and the four you lose will each cost a full playthrough to recover.

If you would rather do it in one pass:

  1. Read the list above before you start, not after. Six of the eleven are gone before the halfway point.
  2. Talk to everyone, on every frequency, at every new location. Three of the eleven are radio and dialogue trophies, and Delta rewards curiosity in a way modern games mostly do not.
  3. Stop before each boss and check whether one of these applies to it. Boss arenas are the least forgiving windows in the game.
  4. Save in a fresh slot before every boss. This is the single habit that makes the difference. A missed conversation costs you one reload rather than one playthrough.
  5. Treat the swamp and the early jungle as their own checklist. Beekeeper, Mud Scientist and Taste the poison! all live in the first third.

The trophies that are safe

Everything else in Delta can be cleaned up afterwards. The collectible trophies, the difficulty trophies and the completion trophies all survive the credits, and the area by area routes for those are indexed separately in the area guide.

So the plan that works is simple: get the eleven above on the run you are on, and leave the rest for later. Later exists for those. It does not exist for these.
