Silent Hill: Townfall: both New Game Plus endings, and what to pick up in chapter 1
The Dog ending and the Sci-Fi ending are both New Game Plus and both run the whole game. Three coins banked to the Dog Bank, or three Strange Books and the Strange Card in the Haldane Hotel. Miss one item in chapter 6 and the run is already over.

Townfall has two endings beyond the one you get on a first run, and both of them are New Game Plus only, and both run the entire length of the game.
That is the part worth knowing before you press start on NG+. Each one is built on items you collect across seventeen chapters, and missing a single one closes that ending at the point it would have mattered, with nothing on screen telling you at the time.
Pick an ending before you begin the run.
What each one needs
| Dog ending | Sci-Fi ending | |
|---|---|---|
| Items | Three coins, banked to the Dog Bank as you go | Three Strange Books, plus the Strange Card |
| First item | Chapter 1 | Chapter 1 |
| Second | Chapters 9 to 10 | Chapter 10 |
| Third | Chapter 15, behind the gate | Chapter 15, behind the gate |
| The extra one | The Strange Card, chapter 6 | |
| The final move | Go straight instead of turning off, the dog is in your path, put the coin down | Run to the right instead of forward, there is a slot for the card |
| Where it lands | Chapter 17, after The Weight | At the ending |
The coins are banked, not carried. You put each one into the Dog Bank as you find it, so this is a thing you do three times across the run rather than a set you assemble at the end.
Both endings share one gate
The third item for each is in chapter 15, behind a gate that only opens once the Strange Puzzle is solved. Skip that puzzle and you have closed both endings for that run at the same moment.
The Strange Puzzle has its own guide, and the gate code is shown on screen there rather than written down.
The Strange Card is the one that ends runs quietly
It sits in the Haldane Hotel in chapter 6, behind a puzzle door with a symbol sequence on it.
Walk past that door and the Sci-Fi ending is already gone, whatever you do for the eleven chapters after it. Nothing marks the door as important and nothing tells you later that you missed it. The symbol sequence is on screen in the video so you can pause on it.
Richard, and why the Dog ending is the one that pays off the story
The Dog ending lands in chapter 17 once The Weight is down, and you meet Richard. The whole thing turns into a happy ending, which in a Silent Hill game is unsettling in its own right.
Richard is not a new name at that point. He is the man on the Employee File Cover Note in chapter 11, the document carrying the ID that the clearance card needs, and the Richard Notes in chapter 13 fill in who he was. The Dog ending is where that thread finishes, so picking up those two documents on the way makes the last five minutes land.
One thing New Game Plus gives you anyway
Chapter 5 of NG+ lets Zoe pick up an Axe, which is not available on a first run. It costs nothing to take on the way past.
The short version
- Decide which ending before you start NG+.
- Take the chapter 1 item immediately, coin or book.
- For the Sci-Fi ending, the Haldane Hotel door in chapter 6 is not optional.
- Solve the Strange Puzzle in chapter 15 either way.
- At the end, the dog is straight ahead, and the card slot is to the right.
Both routes are filmed end to end, nine minutes for the Dog ending and under eight for the Sci-Fi, with timestamps on each item. The codes and the symbol sequence are shown on screen rather than written here, because those are the part worth pausing on rather than reading.
