The Elden Ring cheese archive: 42 boss skips, and the patch each one was recorded on

Every Elden Ring cheese we have filmed since 2022, indexed by boss and labelled with the patch it was tested on. Including the honest part: a cheese recorded on patch 1.07 may not survive the version you are playing.

We have filmed 42 Elden Ring boss cheeses since August 2022, across patches 1.06 through 1.14 and into the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This page indexes all of them by boss.

Read this before you use any of them

FromSoftware patches cheeses. That is the whole relationship. A skip that was guaranteed on 1.07 may be dead on the version installed on your machine right now, and the video will still be sitting there looking confident.

So every entry below carries the patch it was recorded on. Use that as the first filter:

  • Geometry and pathing cheeses (luring a boss off a ledge, standing where it cannot reach you, skipping a phase through a wall) are the ones that get patched. Check the patch number first.
  • Build and weapon cheeses (a specific weapon art, a status effect the boss is weak to) survive far longer, because patching them means rebalancing the weapon for everyone.
  • Rune farms almost always survive.

Where a boss has several entries, the most recent patch number is the one to try first, and the older entries are there because they sometimes still work when the newer route has been closed.

Malenia, Blade of Miquella

Eight separate routes, more than any other boss in the game, which tells you something about how many people needed one.

Route Patch Filmed
Phase 2 skip, no fight guaranteed 1.10 Jun 2024
Solo cheese 1.10 Aug 2023
Exploit her weakness, new technique 1.10 Jul 2023
Zero damage, no hit 1.09 Jun 2023
Defeat in 1 minute, broken build 1.09 Jun 2023
Knocked out by flies 1.09 Jul 2023
Defeated within 30 seconds 1.07 Oct 2022
No damage or hit taken 1.06 Sep 2022

Start with the 1.10 phase 2 skip. If the geometry has moved, drop to the 1.09 build routes, which depend on damage rather than on level layout.

Dragonlord Placidusax

Route Patch Filmed
No fight guaranteed 1.14 Aug 2023
Easy kill technique 1.09 Jun 2023
Easy kill technique 1.07 Oct 2022

The 1.14 version is the newest cheese in this entire archive and the one most likely to still hold.

Mohg, Lord of Blood

Route Patch Filmed
No fight guaranteed, tested 1.10 Jun 2023
Cheese Mohg to enter the DLC patched Jun 2024

We labelled the second one patched at the time of filming and it stays labelled that way. It is here as a record, not as advice.

Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Filmed across summer 2024, on the DLC as it launched.

  • Bayle the Dread, no fight guaranteed
  • Second Dancing Lion, for the Divine Beast Tornado at Rauh
  • Jolan and Count Ymir
  • Logur, the Beast Claw, for the Beast Claws

Everything else, by boss

Why we keep the old ones up

A patched cheese is still a map of where the boss's weakness was, and people play Elden Ring on every version from launch to current. Taking them down would help nobody. Labelling them honestly helps everybody.

If you test one of these on a current patch, tell us what happened and we will put the result on this page.
