Crimson Desert hides a lot behind puzzles, and it is perfectly happy to let you walk past every one of them. Abyss chambers, Ancient Ruins, stone mechanisms, checkers boards, gliding challenges and at least one maze that people give up on. Several hold weapons and secret chests you never see otherwise.
We have solved sixty-four of them. This page lists every one by name, because the only thing that matters when you are stuck is finding the exact puzzle you are standing in front of.
How the puzzles are organised
The game does not label these as a single collection, which is why they are so easy to miss. In practice they fall into four groups:
- Abyss puzzles. The largest set by far, and the one that hides the best rewards. Several contain secret chests that are separate from the puzzle's own reward.
- Ancient Ruins. Stone mechanisms out in the world, usually named for the region they sit in.
- Mazes and labyrinths. Four of them, and they are the ones people abandon.
- One-off mechanisms. Doors, gates, strong boxes and quest puzzles that belong to a single location.
Abyss puzzles
The deepest set in the game. Where a chamber holds secret chests separate from the main reward, it is noted, because those are what people miss even after solving the puzzle itself.
| Puzzle | Note |
|---|---|
| Altar of Solitude | Three secret chests |
| Ascetic's Rest | Secret chest |
| Bowsprit Cape | Powers the ship |
| Chaos Forest Restoration | |
| Courtyard of Precision | |
| Crossroads of Uncertainty | Gliding challenge |
| Dimensional Labyrinth | |
| Disconnected Truth | |
| Ether Fragment | Denn River |
| Forgotten Altar | |
| Nest of Valor | Holds a weapon most players never collect |
| Origin of Thoughts | |
| Path of Serpents | Secret chests |
| Path of Trials | |
| Precipice of Truth | |
| Riddle Square | |
| Root's End | Secret chests |
| Roots of Truth | |
| Sanctum of Transcendence | |
| Secret Garden | Secret chests |
| Throne of Truth | |
| Vault of Vengeance | Secret chests |
| The one without balance | Solvable without balancing anything |
Start with Nest of Valor. It holds a sword that almost nobody walks out with, and the chamber gives no indication that it is there.
Ancient Ruins
| Ruin | Note |
|---|---|
| Azure Moon Labyrinth | |
| Beardtree Hills Ancient Stone Ruins | |
| Beardtree Hills Gorge | Separate from the stone ruins above |
| Deepfog Basin, Dragon puzzle | Two puzzles share this location |
| Deepfog Basin, Pillar puzzle | |
| Five Finger Mountain | |
| Golden Plains, Secret Chamber | The chamber is the part people miss |
| Memory Laden Ruins | |
| Timberdale | |
| Wiggling Hill |
Deepfog Basin catching people out is worth flagging: it holds two separate puzzles, a dragon and a pillar, and solving one does not open the other.
Mazes and labyrinths
| Maze | Note |
|---|---|
| Ancient Rift Maze | |
| Burhum Maze | There is a route that skips the tower problem entirely |
| Celestial Maze | Smoking Lands |
| Azure Moon Labyrinth | Also listed under Ancient Ruins |
| Dimensional Labyrinth | Also listed under Abyss |
Burhum is the one people abandon. The usual advice sends you between two towers; the route we use avoids that decision.

If you only do a few
Ranked by what you actually get out of them:
- Nest of Valor, for the sword.
- Sanctum of Benediction, for the mechanism that is easy to walk past.
- The Abyss chambers marked with secret chests, since the chests are extra on top of a puzzle you were going to solve anyway.
- Golden Plains Secret Chamber, which is a second thing hidden behind a puzzle people think they have finished.
A note on our own coverage
Two of these were filmed twice, Five Finger Mountain and Timberdale, once in spring and once in May. Where that happens the later recording is the one to follow, since it reflects the game as it was patched at that point.
If a puzzle you are stuck on is missing from this list, tell us and it goes on the roadmap.
