Borderlands 4: every collectible on Kairos, indexed by zone and by type

Twenty-two zones on Kairos, nine collectible types, and the seven zones where we filmed each type on its own route. Find the zone you are short in, then the exact category you are missing.

Borderlands 4 tracks collectibles per zone, which sounds helpful until you are sitting at 11 of 12 in a zone you have already swept twice. The counter tells you the number and refuses to tell you the type.

We filmed 75 collectible routes across Kairos. This page indexes them by zone, and for the seven zones where the categories were filmed separately, it lists which categories exist there at all. That second part is the useful one, because half of a stuck completion run is discovering that the zone you are grinding never had a Survivalist Cache in it.

The nine things Kairos hides

Type What it is Why people miss it
Vault Symbols Wall markings you shoot Painted flat on geometry you walk past
Vault Fragments Pickups that feed vault progress Usually off the main path
Vault Hunter's Guides to Kairos Readable guides Look like set dressing
Propaganda Speakers Destructibles Mounted high, so they stay off screen
Lost Capsules Drop pods Land in terrain rather than at markers
Survivalist Caches Hidden supply stashes Behind a traversal move, not a fight
Evocariums Interactables Only a handful of zones have them
Dead Bolts Locked shortcuts Read as scenery until you have the tool
Electi Safes Faction safes Only two zones carry them

The seven zones filmed category by category

These are the early zones, and they are the ones where the counter is most likely to strand you. Each cell is a route we filmed on its own, so you can go straight to the single category you are missing rather than rewatching a full sweep.

Zone Categories filmed separately
Bonescape All eleven, including both Vault Fragments and Vault Hunter's Guides
The Howl Ten, with no ECHO Logs pass
Idolator's Noose Ten, with no Vault Hunter's Guide pass
Lopside Nine, and the first zone with Electi Safes
Dissected Plateau Eight, with no separate Vault Fragment pass
Grindstone of the Worthy Six, the thinnest of the seven
Hungering Plain Six, and the only one where ECHO Logs are the headline

Bonescape is the one to learn on. It is the only zone where every single category was filmed as its own route, so if you want to know what a Dead Bolt or an Evocarium actually looks like before you go hunting one somewhere else, watch the Bonescape route for that type first and then go back to your zone.

Electi Safes exist in two zones only, Lopside and Grindstone of the Worthy. If you are hunting one anywhere else, you are hunting something that is not there.

The fifteen zones filmed as a single sweep

These are the later and denser zones, where the categories are mixed closely enough that a combined route backtracks less than nine separate ones.

Zone Region
Tonnage Peel Kairos surface
Ruined Sumplands Kairos surface
Heart of the Mountain Kairos surface
Cuspid Climb Kairos surface
Windspear Kairos surface
Stoneblood Forest Kairos surface
Moon Called Throne Kairos surface
Fallen Crown Kairos surface
The Low Keys Kairos surface
Elpis Orbital Shatterfield Orbital
Fades District City
Carcadia District City
Upper Dominion City
Umbral Foundry City
Terminus District City

The four city districts are the ones worth doing last. They are vertical in a way the surface zones are not, so a lot of what looks unreachable on a first pass simply needs a traversal upgrade you get later.

The order that backtracks least

  1. Bonescape, fully, category by category. Treat it as the tutorial for what each collectible type looks like.
  2. The Howl, Idolator's Noose and Hungering Plain. Same era of the game, same movement options.
  3. Lopside and Grindstone of the Worthy, together, since they are the only two zones with Electi Safes and it is easier to learn that type once.
  4. Dissected Plateau, then the surface zones as single sweeps.
  5. Elpis Orbital Shatterfield.
  6. The five city zones last, with full traversal unlocked.

If your counter is stuck

Work in this order and you will find it faster than sweeping again:

  • Check whether the category exists in that zone. The table above settles it for the first seven. This alone accounts for most stuck counters.
  • Look up. Propaganda Speakers and Vault Symbols are the two types that live above eye level, and a ground sweep will never find them.
  • Check for a Dead Bolt you could not open at the time. A zone swept before you had the means to open one will read as complete and never be.
  • Then rewatch the single-category route, rather than the full sweep. It is shorter and it is the reason we filmed them apart.
